We begin by looking at a broad overview of the science of knowing things. 

• describe the three ways we "know" things to be true

• describe how a scientific approach differs from other forms of finding things out

• describe the three general aspects of scientific research or inquiry

• define concepts, variables, and attributes

• describe the difference between inductive vs deductive logic and reasoning

• describe the difference between idiographic and nomothetic explanations

• analyze and explain why some research situations may be better suited for qualitative or quantitative research methods
