Race & Ethnicity in Prisons - 2017

increased by 44% for white women
declined by 55% for black women
BUT as of 2017, imprisonment rate for
white women was 49 per 100,000
African American women was 92 per 100,000 (still nearly twice that of white women)
declines just show how much higher African American women were incarcerated in previous years
Hispanic women was 66 per 100,000 (1.3 times of white women)
